Dava Huesca, from New York City graduated from SUNY Purchase conservatory of Dance with magna cum laude distinction in 2019. In 2015 she graduated second in the dance dept. from Fiorello LaGuardia Arts High School and was awarded Desire Keras Dancer from the Heart award. During and following her studies, Dava has worked and performed works by VimVigor Dance company, Stacey Pearl Dance project, Rena Butler, Hannah Garner, Sidra Bell, Maxine Doyle, Manuel Vignoulle, and Martha Graham Dance Company, among others. Summer of 2018 and 2019, she was accepted into Springboard Danse Montreal and worked with VIM VIGOR, MAZE dance company, Johannes Weiland, and Vanessa Goodman. Following her time at Springboard, Dava was offered a position with VIMVIGOR dance company in 2019. Dava has led floorwork based classes at SUNY Purchase, as well as teaching dance and gymnastics throughout the NYC tri-state area. She has presented her works at Triskelion Arts and Ciclo Dos virtual platform. Dava is the curator for New York Times and Dance Spirit magazine cited instagram @Issadancelook. Additionally, she is the co-founder of the interdisciplinary arts collective LAB RATS. Through LAB RATS, Dava has performed for Battery Dance’s “Black voices” and organized art- filled peaceful protests in New York City in solidarity with the Black Matter Movement.
